Polaroid Event Photography

There is nothing like a physical photo to enhance your physical event. Polaroid event photography is perfect for extending the memory of your meeting. But it's more than just the photos, it's the experience that I offer with my interactions with guests that sets my service apart.

A Tangible Artifact

We live in an era where images can be easily, artificially created. We also live in times where digital cameras and phones can click and capture images so quickly that most of us just take them for granted. By introducing a Polaroid photo, it immediately changes the atmosphere. Of course, there is always the novelty factor, which brings joy and intrigue. But it's even more psychological. There is the anticipation of having to wait to see the developing image. The magic of seeing oneself without ever touching a computer or printer inspires awe and wonder in ways that I am still learning to describe. It's the addictive element that keeps me shooting and watching people's faces light up is a privilege. The entire event and moment is enhanced, as the Polaroid is also a tool for reflection.

Sharing Polaroids

There are three main ways you can incorporate Polaroid photography into your event to enhance the experience.

  1. Give away photos to guests. They will put the photos on their fridge, stick them in journals, or even send them to grandma. I can create and/or print custom envelopes with any info you desire. Maybe a sticker on the front or back of the photo will really enhance the marketing!
  2. Keep photos for you or your organization. They can be used for special photo albums, inspiring wall decor in the office, or company archives. You can choose to digitize them, or not if you want your privacy.
  3. Scan photos to share online. I offer Polaroid scanning services so that you can use the images in graphics, on your website, or social media. You can then tag VIPs on Insta or share them in your email newsletter. Of course, you will get your originals back, too!

Ways to Shoot

Not quite sure how to incorporate Polaroid into your event?

  1. Roaming photography. I can walk around and ask guests if I can capture their photo. This is great for action shots, showing off the venue, and immortalizing the vibes. Especially great for wedding receptions, funky parties, and the like.
  2. Photo booth style. I have the basics for a set up such as lighting and quality backdrop stand. We can go simple, such as a wall or paper backdrop. You also can find a vendor to make a balloon arch or print a custom vinyl backdrop. We can also work together to create an immersive experience. It really depends on your budget and vision, but I can help you figure things out.
  3. Activity style. Photos are captured and attendees can decorate photos with pens, paints, stickers, or whatever your heart desires. We can set up a creative journaling event. What about having me cut custom Polaroid cards to be decorated for Valentine's Day? There are so many options, and I am a well of creative ideas to help make your event unique and memorable.

Not Just Anyone Can Shoot the Shot

The majority of Polaroid event photography experiences available involve using inferior modern cameras, while I use expert-restored and refurbished vintage cameras.

Although I am based out of Florida, I spent years selling my original art on the street in NYC and can handle the festivities while focusing on the job. I am not bashful nor boastful when interacting with guests. I am at your event to work at getting as many great shots as possible and to interact with as many different people as able in a friendly way that doesn't remove guests from the fun.

Sure, you can just buy an instant camera and hand it off to a friend to take the photos. That can be risky. Shooting photos on an instant camera isn't as simple as a point-and-shoot digital or cell phone camera.

Most people are accustomed to digital photography and will go through your film too quickly. Others may not understand the viewfinder, which could lead to poorly composed photos. Many digital photographers even struggle with Polaroid cameras and film if they are not experienced with the format.

Polaroid is my bread and butter, and I shoot with different kinds of Polaroid cameras. My go-to is an expert-restored Polaroid SX-70r Alpha 1 folding camera. For dusty/sandy or crowded events, I use a refurbished Polaroid 660AF box camera. My familiarity and years of experience with the format sets me apart from the rest. Wanna see for yourself? Frequently Asked Questions

How long do photos take to develop?

Polaroid brand photos take approximately 10-15 minutes to see the image, but actually take up to a few days for all contrast and color to fully develop.

How many photos will I need?

It really will depend on either how many guests you expect or your budget. I really can't give an estimate until we chat, so please contact me!

Will the photos fade?

When photos are stored away from direct sunlight, they will last for years and years to come.

What type of Polaroid film can I use?

First, the film must be Polaroid brand. There are no alternatives, as Instax film is a different brand and product.

My cameras accept i-Type and 600 Polaroid brand film. Polaroid always has white frame, color film available. Specialty films such as shiny gold frames, round frames, color frames, and black frames may need to be ordered further in advance because they are not always in stock.

Because my cameras have been upgraded, I have the ability to photograph on any limited editions that are released. It's best to contact me if wanting to use these films as soon as they are released to secure enough for your event.

Is there a budget option?

Yes. Although I specialize in Polaroid photography, there are other options.

Polaroid Go is a miniature true Polaroid film. It literally fits in the palm of your hand. I can get about double the photos for the same price. The camera, however, needs to be used in a more controlled environment such as a 'photo booth' or indoors with good lighting to get the most out of the film.

I could also use Instax cameras and film, with Instax Mini film being the cheapest of all instant film formats. I feel like my Polaroid cameras are superior to my Instax cameras, and I love the unique look of Polaroid. But there is nothing wrong with Instax, and I'm happy to use it if that's your preference!

Another option is photos captured on iPad then printed onto Instax. Multiple photos can be put onto one film. This is really fun especially on the Instax Mini Link for little wallet-sized keepsakes.
